Cell Mediated immunity can also be termed as cellular immunity and forms one among the broad two types under the category of adoptive –immune system which is present within the body. This is basically responsible for fighting out the diseases like the microbes as well as the antigens which are present in the body. In some cases it also helps in removing the foreign substances from within the cells. The T – lymphocytes or the lymphocytes which are derived from the thymus forms the essential part of this so called cell-mediated immunity.

These are basically produced within the bone marrow of the individual and stays in the thymus gland till the same matures. When these T lymphocytes mature, which are present within the thymus to about sixty to seventy percent then they circulate all along in the blood whereas the rest of them would be found in the nodes of the lymph as well as in the spleen.

We all know how important the immune system is for an individual as it is the one basic essential feature which keeps the body if an individual fit and fine during his living as well as his existence. The white blood corpuscles which are also known as the WBCs act as the warriors at work within the body of the individual. These WBCs would keep the body of the individual safe and secure from all the diseases causing germs as well as foreign particles which enter the body of the animal or the human being. The individual faces immense number of disease when one has a weak immune system and hence needs to have an efficient immune system. Before we speak in detail, though already briefed a little upon the cell mediated immunity, it is essential that one knows about the immune system in detail.

While speaking about the human body, it has been seen that in the body of a human, the antibodies as well as the antigens which are present are pretty active and forma very part in the immune system of the individual’s body. Moreover the presence of the phagocytes which are present in the cells helps in engulfing the microbes which forms as the initial steps in the foreign bodies capture. Once these phagocytes engulf the antigens which are present in some of the specific locations with the help of the special receptors (present within the membranes of the cell).

The cytokines which are created are also a part of the immune responses and hence are very important for the activation of the cells which are present within the immune system like for e.g. the interleukins, as well as the factor of tumor-necrosis and the inter-ferons. These cytokines are basically proteins which aids in regulating the immunity. The cyto-toxic –t- lymphocytes are generally the killer cell which does the work naturally. These macrophages aids in destroying the cells which are infected and are activated. Hope this article on the cell mediated immunity helps you in understanding the immune system a little bit better.
